The Plateau State Urban Water Supply Project, initiated under the Third National Urban Water Sector Reform Program, is a comprehensive effort to provide clean drinking water to Jos-Bukuru Metropolis residents. The project is funded through a concessionary loan by AFD and has made significant progress in consultancy procurement, GIS implementation, and institutional reforms. These efforts align with the overarching goals of enhancing the quality of life in Plateau State through sustainable water services.
Project Objectives
- Improve Access: Ensure improved drinking water services for residents in Jos-Bukuru Metropolis.
- Financial Viability: Enhance the financial sustainability of the water utility.
- Governance: Support and improve governance of the water sector in Plateau State.
Progress Made Since Inception (2022)
- First Drawdown: USD 5 million (10% of funds), December 2022
- Project Management Consultant Procurement: March 2022.
- Organisational & Institutional Technical Assistance (OTA/ITA) Consultant Procurement: 2022.
- Detailed Engineering Design (DED) Consultant Procurement: June 2022.
- Geographic Information System (GIS) Procurement: 2021.
